(4660) Corrugation irrigation
1 - A type of controlled flood irrigation wherein small, parallel, V-shaped furrows are formed on the field surface. The corrugations are spaced closely enough so the soil between them is wetted. 2 - In highly permeable soils, corrugations called `herringbone` corrugations are used. Cemented furrows approximately parallel to the contours and laid along the line of the highest slope start from the field channel and feed the corrugations connecting two adjacent furrows. By gradually decreasing the slope of the corrugation from the furrows, the discharges produced at both the ends of each corrugation meet near about its central portion.
